Life is Better with Animals
Our mission is to better the lives of pets and their people. We are a group of professional animal caregivers and positive reinforcement dog trainers whose experience is drawn from working with both domestic and exotic animals in the zoological field.
We strive to put our knowledge and experience to good use by caring for your pets. We will work hard to ensure that you can thoroughly enjoy your vacation (or work day), and your pet will also get to enjoy his or her stay-cation (or daily walk).
We also like to help people understand the importance of training. Dog training not only makes life with dogs easier, it also increases the bond between owner and canine. We love to watch that bond grow as well as tackling tough training challenges.
Kay, our certified dog trainer, has extensive knowledge and experience working with many different species of animals. She has a degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, where her studies were focused on the science of animal behavior. Understanding dog psychology and behavior is her passion, and she is constantly keeping up with the latest discoveries in the field. She also worked for many years as a zoo keeper and trainer at Pt. Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, where her understanding and use of positive training was put into practice.
Cascade Canine is licensed, bonded, and insured. We are members of Pet Sitters International, are Certified Professional Pet Sitters (CPPS), and a Karen Pryor Academy Member and graduate (KPA- CTP). Why choose Cascade Canine? Because we are professionals with the credentials and experience to back it up.
Cascade Canine offers services in Tacoma, WA and the greater Pierce Country Region. We love the Pacific Northwest and the Puget Sound!
Kays dog Zooey is often at her side for training and puppy socializing. She is also featured frequently on our social media accounts. Zooey is titled through AKC as a Trick Dog, earning her TKN and TKI in 2020. She is also a Karen Pryor Academy Canine Graduate. She is around 11 years old, and while her exact pedigree is unknown, we believe she has Labrador and Border Collie in her genes.
Kays dog Koda is frequently featured on our social media accounts, though he does not make many in person appearances. Koda is learning to be a good boy, having had a rather difficult start to life. He definitely keeps Kays training skills sharp! He is 5 years old, and believed to be mostly German Shepherd with a little Alaskan Malamute mixed in.
