Our mission is to better the lives of pets and their people. We are a group of professional animal trainers who utilize humane, ethical, and science-based techniques to train animals, and the people who care for them. Dog training not only makes life with dogs easier, it also increases the bond between guardian and canine. We love to watch that bond grow as well as tackling tough training challenges.
As dog behavior enthusiasts and professionals we will strive to help our clients understand what is driving your dogs behavior, so we can address and challenges from the root. We want people to leave our training sessions with a new understanding of their dog, and a plan to help them live in a human world more cohesively. Compassion for animals and their people is our top priority.
Kay (she/her) has extensive knowledge and experience working with many different species of animals. She has a degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, where her studies were focused on the science of animal behavior and learning theory. Understanding dog behavior is her passion, and she is constantly keeping up with the latest discoveries in the field. She also worked for many years as a zoo keeper and trainer at Pt. Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, where her understanding and use of positive training was put into practice. Kay became a certified trainer through the Karen Pryor Academy in 2017.
Poppy (she/they) has been working in partnership with animals since she first learned to walk alongside her childhood Irish Setter, Laney. She is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy and IAABC’s Cat Behavior Consultant Mentorship Program. Before coming to Tacoma in 2020, her love of animals lead her to volunteer with several rescues and shelters in the Bay Area. Poppy attends workshops and conferences to build her skills and stay current with the science and ethics of force free, positive reinforcement training. When not training, she enjoys being in nature, audiobooks, traveling, and all things to do with food.
